The "Connected Educator" written by Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach highlights the importance of technology and connecting to various people in various communities. We live in a digital age where it is easier than ever for people to have access to technology. In my future career as a teacher, I will be able to use many things that the book speaks of. Three types of communities that can aid in professional development are the local community, bounded community, and the global network. I can certainly see this aiding me in my future career as I will have to be very familiar with the local community whether it be students or the parents of students. I will have to communicate with parents so that I can do what is best for their children's education. The global community can help me become a better teacher as I will have access to more experienced teachers around the globe. I found communities of practice very interesting as they are communities of people in which share a common interest. People in groups can accomplish so much when a passion is shared.
Hey Steven! After reading your summary, I get to understand a bit more with teacher's access to technology. You made a good point saying how living in this digital age, technology has helped people find ways in connections and build community. Technology may has it perks but you explained that having the global community in a career can help make communication easier.
ReplyDeleteHi Steven! While reading your summary, I had noticed some great points that you made. More specifically, I really enjoyed your words on common interests and passion. There is plenty of success to be had when the people of a community are equally invested in what they are working towards. I would imagine it to be pretty difficult to work with a team that doesn't necessarily care for the same goals.
